Common questions

How do I learn the controls?

Tap Learn the controls on the chart screen. It is a guided two-and-a-half minute tour covering the throttles, wheel, bow thruster, sails, mooring pickup, the anchor and the dinghy.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once installed, the whole simulator runs with no connection — it is built for a boat at anchor with no signal.

Where is my progress saved?

On your device only. There is no account and nothing is uploaded, which also means progress does not transfer between devices and is removed if you delete the app.

The throttles feel small on my phone.

Turn the phone to landscape. The view goes full screen and the throttles move to the left and right edges, under your thumbs.

How do I pick up a mooring ball?

Come up to the ball slowly — under about a knot and a half — with the ball near the bow. When it is within a boathook's reach, Hook the ball lights up on the console.

Is this real chart data?

Coastlines and structures come from openly licensed sources and depths are hand-authored estimates. It is a trainer, not a navigation aid — never use it to navigate a real vessel.
